Application definition

We record mounting height, task plane, reflectance assumptions, target illuminance, desired CCT and color rendering expectations. A high luminous flux value is not treated as a complete answer: beam angle, candela distribution and shielding shape the result at the work plane. For offices or education projects, the review can include UGR objectives and screen-use zones rather than relying on fixture wattage alone.

System compatibility

Driver, sensor and control interfaces are checked as a system. DALI-2 and 0-10V dimming have different wiring, addressing and commissioning implications, while emergency circuits may impose separate constraints. We identify these dependencies before quotation so contractors can distinguish a product option from a controls scope decision.

Submittal readiness

Selected families are aligned with available IES or LDT files, dimension information and applicable declarations. UL, CE and RoHS references are confirmed only for the requested market and configuration. Report availability can vary by family, so the project record names any evidence still required before approval.

A numbered handoff from concept to commissioning

  1. Brief

    Share plans, room functions, ceiling conditions and control intent.

  2. Model

    Review photometric assumptions, spacing and visual-comfort constraints.

  3. Coordinate

    Resolve driver, sensor, mounting and circuit interfaces.

  4. Verify

    Confirm schedules, files and configuration-specific declarations.

Scope boundary: calculations depend on accurate geometry and surface reflectance; field voltage, ambient temperature and installation tolerances can change delivered performance. A file-based review does not replace local code review or commissioning measurements.

Specification resources prepared for traceability

Resource packages can include photometric files, dimension sheets, wiring references and installation guidance. Use the product family and configuration as the primary match key; a similarly named luminaire can have a different optic, driver or output package.
